Yes, there is a new look here. What do you think? This is my first try at creating my own theme for WordPress.
The banner image is from my most recent backpacking trek on the Appalachian Trail.
The theme itself is heavily based on my previous theme “Crimson Sunrise”. I’ve changed some graphics, modified the colors and added a special tab for the Cook Book. I get a lot of hits for my recipes and decided we needed an easier way to get to them than the built in archive system.
Give it a look and let me know what you think.

OK, this is Off the Trail.
My girlfriend/fiancee has launched a new regional professional women’s magazine, Women’s Edge. It covers “stories for and about Triangle women in the business, philanthropic and non-profit arenas.”
The Triangle is the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of North Carolina.
The premiere issue is just out.

Normally I would never perpetuate anything that even resembles a chain letter. I always check Snopes for urban legends before forwarding any email story. But my uncle Rich has tagged me and so I’m it. Since he has helped me get my site going both with advice and primarily encouragement, I will continue the game. The rules are (1) you write about five things that your readers might not know about you and (2) you tag five more bloggers who do the same.
- I definitely did not like backpacking as a Boy Scout. Funny how age changes your perspective.
- I was the first Eagle in my Troop.
- I have a Masters of Divinity but was never ordained or served in a church other than summer positions.
- Many people say I look like Dan Ackrod, especially in Ghost Busters.
- With a BA in Psychology and a M.Div., I make my living from an Associates’ degree in Computer Programming that I got after both of the other degrees, 15 years after my first degree.
Now I get to tag 5 bloggers. I tag Bob - a close friend and former colleague, Ted - a friend and fellow wine enthusiast, Clark Green and Walter Underwood - fellow Scoutmasters and Tom Mangan - a Hiking Blogger.

Matt is my girlfriend’s oldest. He is now 17, still very active in the Troop. He is a Life Scout, working on Eagle. He is SPL and a Den Chief for a Webelos 2 den.
I know, 2 birthday posts so close together. Oh well. Busy celebrating, so look for more content tomorrow.
